My flight is booked for a two week trip in February. Nashville to Atlanta to Joburg to Lilongwe — a quick 9850 miles (or 20.5 hours flight time) and I’ll be there. The focus of the trip will be to research logistical items such as housing, transportation, health care, and school for Claire. I am also thinking about other goals such as:
- Visit as many churches as time will allow
- Visit the site of the newMUMC community center
- Visit an orphanage
- Meet with business owners to discuss their needs and concerns
- Talk to bank officials or NGO’s that conduct micro-lending activities
- Visit a permaculture demonstration site
And who knows what other adventures await!

Wow…I think I “get it”…then I read what you are going to do and where you are going in Feb, Jeffrey, and I just have no words. Malawi, Lilongwe, etc…up until a couple months ago these may just have been names of places I might have made up to confuse someone when playing Balderdash. Now, my family is going there? You gotta love a speechless mother-in-law, Jeffrey.
