Carter announces his age.
Saturday was a delightful surprise. Carter, of course, awoke at 5am ready to open presents for his 4th birthday. We managed to stall him through breakfast and a shower, but by 8:30am we were opening presents from family and some special packages from Aunt Cheryl, Uncle Steve, Laura and Grandma and Grandpa O.
The afternoon was spent relaxing and baking. Carter chose to spend the bulk of the afternoon with his friends next door.
Party!!
Throughout the day I sent some impromptu text messages to friends inviting them over for cake and ice cream at 4pm. Our friends John and Elaine called back to ask if they could bring a band with them – a band!!! And so they did. Add cake, ice cream (it’s really like ice milk), banana bread, Fanta, a hula hoop and a bunch of kids and it was a beautiful afternoon. Smiles, laughter, music and good friends. It was just what the Oliver family needed.
